Going Back to School in Fashionable Geek-style
If you hadn’t already guessed it the folks here at QuadrupleZ are kind of.. well, geeky. We love TV, movies, comics and everything in between. So it was kind of refreshing to see more and more of our favorite things being accepted by the mainstream of culture. Geek is, in fact, the new chic.
So it was no small surprise when Warner Brothers asked us to talk about the new Supergirl by Nastia clothing collection. The only disappointing fact is this clothing wasn’t around when I was a kid going back to school.
One of the fun parts (at least for me) of heading back to school was getting some new supplies and, of course, some new clothes. So what self-respecting Geek parent isn’t going to check out Supergirl by Nastia at JCPenney for their 4 to 12-year-old girls?
I especially loved these pants! Fashionable super hero wear… where were you when I was starting third grade?

There was also this adorable shirt with a knit shrug:

And, we can’t leave out this awesome hoodie:

Check it out for yourself at your local JCPenney or online at http://bit.ly/b9kJy3.

Women who are celebrate for their brains, not just their body. So many women struggle with self-respect and self-image. Finding modern day heroes can be hard. One of those heroes is Nastia Liukin, gold medal winning gymnast. Nastia Liukin is currently unveiling her new clothing line at JCPenny. Partnered with Warner Bros. Need a Gift for the Barney Stinson in Your Life? Get them a Sockscription!
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from watching TV — clothes make you a better man. If you don’t believe us, ask Barney Stinson, one of the lead characters of How I Met Your Mother. Barney’s catch phrase, “Suit Up!” is not only a funny saying, but a truth that Barney carries through out his life.
Why are we talking about Barney Stinson. I mean, other than he’s awesome, of course. Because we have the perfect gift for the Barney Stinson in your life (or the man who needs to learn from his fine example) – a sockscription. The good folks over at Blacksocks.com want to help the men in your life live in style this year, with a sockscription.
For an annual subscription of $89 (includes shipping), “sockscribers” receive three pairs of socks every four months for a total of nine pairs annually. The socks are manufactured in Northern Italy, using the highest quality yarns with long fibers that pill less and are more durable. Sockscribers have the option of calf socks, knee socks, and cashmere silk socks.
These socks are extreme quality in the making, BlackSocks.com sent me a pair to test out on my father, and they are as luxurious and good-looking as advertised. They were a lot thicker than I anticipated, a lot better than most dress socks you buy in the store. This is the perfect gift for the hard-to-please man on your gift list this year. Maybe your CEO, or father, your lawyer, your professor, or even yourself! After all, you worked hard this year at being awesome — shouldn’t your feet be rewarded for all that hard work?
Clothes may not make the man, but they sure make the man look good. So head over to Blacksocks.com and check out their service for yourself. Blacksocks also carries men’s underwear and fine T-shirts, available via subscription.
Not sure if you are ready to buy a sockscription? You can purchase trial pairs before committing. Barney would approve.

Tea Stain Clothing Launches “The Music Fashion Project”: Style, Music and Charity!
Shop for a good cause! Tea Stain Clothing has just launched The Music Fashion Project. This philanthropic initiative pairs some of the rock scene’s biggest names with their favorite style of Tea Stain Clothing to raise money for music-related charities. Participating bands include well known bands like Papa Roach and The Donnas. The project also features some bands ‘on the verge’ like Framing Hanley, currently holding the #1 video spot on Fuse TV, and Lovehammers featuring Marty Casey from NBC’s Rock Star INXS. Some benefiting charities include VH1 Save The Music, Little Kids Rock and Rock ‘N Renew. To contribute to the project, fans simply purchase their favorite band’s selected charity style. Tea Stain Clothing takes care of the rest by donating a portion of the proceeds directly to that band’s specified charity. The project is web based and every band’s feature is completely sharable. “This is the next generation of social media and web based marketing. We wanted to make a difference and make it easy to spread the word.” founder Devin Hajek says. “Even if someone isn’t able to spend money on a shirt, they can still support their favorite band/charity by simply clicking ‘share’. From there they have the option to email their friends or post it on their myspace, facebook and a host of other social networking outlets.”

Lauren Conrad Fall Style
In honor of Fall Fashion, here’s a YouTube video of Lauren Conrad talking about her new line (available starting tomorrow at Kohls). I love that she brings out the California style (since that’s my state) and the effortlessness of fashion (at a reasonable price). It’s always great to see passionate folks getting to talk about their creative outlet – and Fashion is one of those outlets that intrigues me.
How about you? Doing some Fall shopping this month?

Who Watches the Watches?
In this day and age watches are no longer a necessity, but instead, they are a fashion accessory. Since I carry my cellphone everywhere it’s become my new watch. But I still love occasionally wearing my Emily Strange watch because it represents me – black and red, a black cat (like my cat Myboyfriend) and a quirky 13 instead of 12 at the top).So now I think of watches as personality statements, much like jewelry or shoes. So when I think of buying a watch as a present I want something that represents the person. When Bluedial.com asked me to write about their Seiko Kinetic watches, I had a lot of fun trying to match a watch to a person in my life. I, of course, started thinking birthdays and Christmas. Something timeless to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday perhaps. A beautiful watch to commemorate his years of life and love.
When I think about the time my Grandpa Bill has seen, it’s fairly amazing. He’s gone through a World War, seen the rise and fall of Communism in Russia, gone from listening to the radio for entertainment, to the TV, to the internet. He’s seen phones numbers go from KLondike 5-3247 to calling Jenny at 867-5309. He’s gone from the days where Humphry Bogart was the on screen hero/tough guy to Harrison Ford to “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson.
With all of this, of course a watch would make a perfect present. How about you? What situation or person would you buy a watch for?

Revo Offers Recycled Eyewear Featuring Eco-Friendly Revo Re-Use Technology
Performance eyewear maker, Revo, has long been recognized for its industry-leading polarized lenses and advanced, lightweight frame materials. Today, Revo continues its legacy of innovation by offering recycled eyewear featuring new Revo Re-Use technology.
At Revo, sustainable and eco-friendly practices are a major initiative. This commitment to the environment is exemplified through Revo Re-Use technology which is incorporated into select frames within the new Revo Polarcast collection. The result is an assortment of unisex sunglasses that are precision molded from 100% recycled pre-consumer nylon plastics. Available in five stylish frames with eleven total colorways, the Revo Re-Use line is one of the largest collections of recycled eyewear on the market.
Designed to have a big impact on the eyes with little impact on the environment, all Revo Re-Use frames feature proprietary Revo Polarcast lens technology which is the result of several optical innovations. It begins with shatter proof lenses made from Serilium(TM), the purest form of polycarbonate available. Every Revo lens receives three coatings – a selective wavelength attenuation coating which allows usable light to pass through the lens while blocking glare from haze, fog or other forms of diffused light; an anti-reflective coating to eliminate light that bounces off the inside of the lens; and Revo’s exclusive Element Shed(TM) coating to ensure dust, sand and water will roll off the surface of the lens. To reduce eyestrain and promote high-grade optical clarity, all Revo lenses are infusion molded into a single layer of material.
In addition to recycled frame material and unparalleled lens polarization, Revo Re-Use(TM) sunglasses are also a step ahead when it comes to fit. A patented Motion Fit(TM) system positions sunglasses to ideal locations on the nose and ears which maximizes comfort by eliminating unwanted pressure points.
To further extend its commitment to sustainability, Revo has partnered with global water advocate, Alexandra Cousteau, and mountaineer, Jimmy Chin. Serving as brand ambassadors, Alexandra and Jimmy represent a new generation of visionaries who are dedicated to making a difference with their involvement in key environmental and social programs around the world.
Throughout the month of August, select Sunglass Hut stores will feature an exclusive advertising campaign featuring Revo brand ambassadors, Alexandra Cousteau and Jimmy Chin. Additionally, Revo Re-Use(TM) sunglasses are now available at all Sunglass Hut locations nationwide. Find out more at www.sunglasshut.com.
