Last time we were left without knowing who would win HOH.

Spoilers after the jump.

Kevin put up a good fight, but Jeff was victorious in the end. He nominated Natalie and Kevin, which was to be expected. However, after nominations, Natalie and Kevin started working on getting Jeff to turn on Russell.

They told Jeff that Russell is a bigger threat and that they won’t nominate him next week. Of course after he is out of the room, they talk about they have to get Jeff out next week. The Veto competition was played and Jeff was victorious once again.

Jordan and Jeff discussed it and decided it was in their best interest to take out Russell. The Veto ceremony was very tense. Jeff removed Kevin from the block and replaced him with Russell. This makes Jeff the number one bad guy in Russell’s eyes.

Russell did not take this well. There were a lot of fights and even threats. Russell was really trying to get Jeff to fight him, but Jeff remained calm for the most part. Jordan almost came to blows with Russell at one point, though.

Russell scrambled to make other deals. He told Kevin it would be better for him to keep Russell. He tried to make a final two deal, but none of it seemed to work. Russell was evicted 3 to 0, with not even his ally Michele voting to keep him.

The HOH competition was started, but once again was not finished by the end of the show. The HOH will be revealed on Sunday, along with a secret behind a door that could affect everyone in the game.

This season of Big Brother will probably not go down in history as the most strategic, but it may be the most explosive. I was going to write my review on one week, not two, but then things started happening that hadn’t been shown on the show and didn’t think I could review it without being too spoilery.

When last we left off, Chima had won Head of Household. She nominated Russell and Lydia, with the intention of getting Russell out. Kevin won the Power of Veto, but chose not to take his friend Lydia off the block. He knew the plan was to evict Russell, and there was the secret power floating around. The houseguests were calling it the wizard power.

The night of the live eviction rolled around, only it wasn’t live. CBS chose to tape the show, because Chima had threatened to go on a rampage if the Coup D’ Etat was used. They didn’t want her doing something that couldn’t be edited with the few second delay with live shows.

Julie Chen asked if the person with the secret power wanted to use it, and Jeff stood up. He couldn’t put Chima or Kevin on the block, since they were HOH and PoV winners. He put Natalie and Jesse up for eviction. Then, the houseguests had to vote. Jesse was voted out. It’s kind of funny that last season Jesse was voted out because of America’s Player and this season he got out because America gave the power to someone who would get him out.

Chima, Natalie, and Lydia were furious. Next up was the HOH competition. Michele won it. At this point, I wasn’t sure how things would go, because Michele hadn’t really chosen a side. She ended up nominating Natalie and Chima.

This is when things got crazy. Chima started throwing tantrums. Her and Natalie were hiding people’s things and there were lots of fights, however not much of this was shown on the broadcast. People who had the live feeds knew what happened with Chima a full four days before it was shown on TV.

So, Chima came to the backyard and wouldn’t put on her microphone that they are required to wear. The BB “voice” kept telling her to put it on. Kevin went and got it for her, but she threw it in the pool! This is a big deal. Those mics are expensive. Natalie kept saying it slipped from her hands, but hello! This is a show where the cameras are on you 24/7, obviously the producers know what happened. Chima still wouldn’t put on a microphone and kept talking about wanting to leave the game. So, she was called to the diary room and didn’t come back. The executive producer, Allison Grodner, came over the loudspeaker and told the houseguests that Chima had been removed from the game, due to not wanting to follow the rules.

Since Chima was nominated for eviction and was gone, Michele’s HOH reign was over. She only got it for a couple days, but accomplished what she wanted to. There was supposed to be a double eviction this week anyway. They would have had two evictions on Thursday night, but now will just have one. They played a new HOH competition, which was actually supposed to be for Power of Veto. Jordan took the prize, because Jeff gave it to her. What a nice guy!

Then, Lydia started throwing tantrums. She had to wear the BB Unitard because of the competition and didn’t want to. She had a few big fights with people, and she didn’t even like Chima the week before. Lydia and Natalie were acting like best friends when they’d been fighting over Jesse previously. These people don’t keep their feelings inside, which makes for good TV.

Jordan nominated Lydia and Natalie. Kevin made a very good effort at trying to get Jeff and Jordan to distrust Russell. They played for Power of Veto on the live show. Jordan was victorious, though Michele put up a good fight for it. Jordan didn’t use the Veto and Lydia was sent to the Jury House.

No one was crowned HOH, as the competition wasn’t over when the live show ended. I’m not sure if it was meant that way, but either way we won’t know until Sunday who is ruling the house this week. Lots happened in this last two weeks, which has made this season one to remember.

It’s been a crazy and hostile house already this year. There a lot of strong personalities clashing.

The first week, when Jesse was HOH, Braden and Shima were nominated. The cliques were divided on what to do. Alliances have not been formed based on what clique the houseguests were in. On eviction night, Ronnie voted to evict Braden even though he had promised he would keep him. Of course, he promised that to both sides. So, Ronnie did vote for his clique-mate Shima, but Michele did not. Jesse had to bread the tie and Braden when home.

Ronnie was the next HOH. He promised to do something that would turn the house upside down. He, however, did not. He stuck by the athletes, well some of them. He nominated Laura and Jeff, who was an athlete but not getting along with his clique. Jeff won the Power of Veto, which he used on himself, and Jordan was put up as a replacement nominee. Ronnie was called out for playing both sides and stayed in his HOH room a lot. When he did come out, Russell would follow him around calling him a rat. Laura was eventually evicted.

In the HOH competition, Jesse prevailed…again. He really doesn’t need to win anything that will make himself think he’s better than he already does. He nominated Jordan and Michele, and Michele won the PoV removing herself from the block. She was replaced with Casey. Casey found out Jesse wanted him voted out and became a bit of a sore loser his last few days. The speeches on eviction night have been crazy this season. Calling people out, telling other houseguests what they think of them. These people aren’t afraid to speak their minds. Casey was evicted and the cliques were demolished.

This last week started out with Russell winning HOH. It was an endurance competition and it was Russell and Jeff at the end. Russell made a deal that Jeff and Jordan were safe to get the HOH. Russell was starting to see that Jesse, Shima, and Natalie weren’t looking out for his best interest. He nominated Ronnie and Lydia, which Jesse wasn’t happy about, because Ronnie was with them. Michele won the PoV again and did not use it, even though Ronnie tried to threaten her into it. There were a lot of fights this week with people getting the Big Brother restraining order, which means they have to stay three feet from each other. Ronnie went home! Now, I’m trying to be unbiased here, but when a person goes in saying they’ve watched the show religiously ever since it was on and knows how to play the game and then acts like Ronnie. I have no sympathy at all.

So that’s the wrap up for the first four weeks. The way this is going, I only see it getting better. The Coup D Etat has been introduced again this season and Jeff is in possession of it. Shima is the HOH, so next week he has the option to remove her nominations and replace them with his own. It could be very excited. Stay tuned to Big Brother to find out what happens.

The Big Brother 11 houseguests entered the house on Thursday night. Well, actually they entered about a week before, but they showed it on TV this Thursday. Twelve people entered the house and selected their sleeping arrangements, but there is of course a twist. We’ll get to that in a minute.

The houseguests were introducing themselves and getting to know each other when host Julie Chen came on their TV. The houseguests will be playing in high school cliques this year. They will still play as individuals, but if a member of a clique wins HOH, the other members of their clique are safe from eviction as well. The cliques are as follows: popular, athletes, brains, and off beat.

POPULAR
Jordan- The typical popular girl: blonde and cute. She has a strong southern accent and is a waitress.

Braden- The hot, California surfer dude. He brags about his looks and is very laid back. He also works as a model and actor.

Laura- A bikini model, that says it all. Of course she’s popular.

ATHLETES
Russell- A commercial real estate broker, but also a mixed martial arts fighter.

Natalie- A world champion Bronze medalist in Tai Kwon Do. Claims she’ll lie, cheat, or steal to win and is already starting out that way.

Jeff- An advertising salesman who loves to play sports and be outdoors. Would love to have a “showmance” in the BB house.

BRAINS
Chima- A freelance journalist who will use her smile to get what she wants.

Ronnie- A self proclaimed video game geek. Collects Star Wars and Sci-Fi collectibles and is a speech and debate champion.

Michele- Has a PhD in neuroscience. Says she has studied the mind and can spot a lie from a mile away.

OFF BEAT

Kevin- A gay graphic designer. Claims he has a habit of finding people’s flaws and magnifying them. Calls himself ghetto, fabulous, and inappropriate.

Lydia- A tattooed effects make up artist. She has been a nanny for a high profile couple and says not to judge a book by its cover.

Casey- A fifth grade teacher during the day and DJ at night. Has a nineteen year old and one year old son.

These are the houseguests and the lying has already begun. Michele told everyone she was a lab assistant to downplay her smarts. Natalie lied about her age, saying she was 18 when she’s really 24. She also didn’t want people to know she was athletic, so when put in the athletes clique she had to admit she did Tai Kwon Do. Kevin already called her out on not being 18. Casey has decided he doesn’t like Shima, because she laughs at her own jokes. Her own clique is saying Natalie is too cocky, and all the girls think Jeff is hot.

The first Head of Household competition was played and another twist was revealed. The person who won HOH would not have the honor. That clique would have a previous houseguest return and be in their clique. This previous houseguest would be the first HOH. The competition was in the Big Brother “locker room.” The houseguests had to put on underwear attached to a rope, which lifted them off the ground, giving them giant wedgies. Yep, back to high school. They also had to hold on to a toilet seat.

The previous houseguests up for the honor of returning to the game were: Cowboy for the off beats from season 5, Jesse for the athletes from season 10, Jessica for the populars from season 9, and Brian for the brains from season 10.

Ultimately, the athletes won and Jesse will return to the Big Brother house. It should be interesting to say the least, as Jesse was hated in his season. They’ll show his entrance into the house on Sunday night. It’s shaping up to be another crazy summer of Big Brother.

Big Brother is a reality show that comes around every summer, and one winter during the writer’s strike. They stick a number of people in a house and let them fight it out until the summer’s end. Well, sort of.

This year’s Big Brother begins July 9th. Check out the details at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_brother/

Since this is season 11, here are 11 reasons you should watch Big Brother this summer.

1. Something to do for the Summer

Big Brother is on during the summer, when there isn’t a lot of original programming on television. You can put as much or as little time into Big Brother as you want. There’s the live feeds, which you can watch 24/7, except during certain competitions and lockdowns. There’s even a Big Brother talk show, called House Calls where Gretchen Massey discusses what happened on the show. Or you can just watch the show on TV, three nights a week.

2. The Game

It’s really all about the game. The winner of Big Brother wins half a million dollars. Some people will do anything for the money and others put friendships they’ve only had for three months first. Dr. Will Kirby, who is in my opinion the best Big Brother player ever, told people from the beginning that he would lie to all of them, which he did. Most everyone still believed him when he promised them things, to which he of course broke those promises. He ended up winning season 2 and got to the final four in an All-Stars season.

3. The Crazy Competitions

Big Brother has competitions for food, Head of Household, Power of Veto, and Luxuries in the house. These competitions are truly crazy. They usually involve costumes and something really messy. They’ve had to search through spaghetti, crawl through honey, and dig through garbage. You never know what the next competition will hold.

4. Lots of Drama

There is always drama in the BB house. People get nominated for eviction, so the contestants are forced to campaign against each other to stay in the house. This causes a lot of fights, backstabbing, and lies- all good quality television.

5. Twists and Turns

You never know what will happen on BB. One person wins Head of Household, which give them the privilege of nominating two people for nomination. However, there is always the Power of Veto, which, if won, can take one person off the “chopping block.” This power can change the game dramatically. It is a game of strategy, but is sometimes just luck.
6. The Relationships

Now, this isn’t just romantic relationships, though there are those as well. There has been a father and daughter, brother and sister, and exes in the house. Usually these people come into the game without prior knowledge that the other person is coming in as well. And of course there are the summer “showmances.”

7. Wild Personalities

You have to possess a very unique personality to make it on Big Brother. These personalities are sure to clash, as everyone wants the attention. Some of these “out there” personalities will drive you completely nuts as you watch, while you’ll fall in love with others.

8. You Never Know Who Might Show Up

During season 7 of BB, Neil Patrick Harris showed up in the Big Brother house to play Santa Claus for the day. NPH actually really likes the show and told me at Comic Con last year that I should watch the British version as well.

9. Morality

Most seasons there are contestants who come into the game with a firm stance that they will not lie because they are religious. These are usually the people who end up lying the most. It is a look at human nature to watch this show, just to see how people react in such a strange situation. Who is willing to lie and who is not? Many say lying is part of the game, others lie and don’t even realize they’ve done it. Some of them lie so much they don’t know what they’ve said to whom.

10. Big Brother Slop

Big Brother Slop is a terrible concoction of grains. It’s a bit like oatmeal, though not as tasty. If a group loses the food competition, they can only eat Slop for the week. They can have certain condiments to try and make it taste better. Hungry people get grouchy, which makes for much entertainment.

11. America’s Choice

Sometimes there will be an America’s Choice question that the viewing audience gets to vote on. Most of the time it will be something like who gets a phone call to loved ones, but there have been two season where there was an America’s Player. The audience got to vote and tell this person what to do in the game. One of them actually won, though the choices America made lost the game for the other one.
